A Few Bread Making Tips
- Make sure your yeast is still active. If your yeast doesn’t foam up/bubble during the proofing process, it may be dead. Storing your yeast in the fridge helps preserve it longer.
- You may add a little sugar (about 1/4 tsp) to your water and yeast mixture to feed the yeast but never add any salt to your yeast. This will kill it.
- To get a soft, glutinous bread, knead your dough until it can easily form a smooth ball. This will typically take about 5 minutes. You may not get a stretchy dough with whole wheat flour but kneading it thoroughly is still important.
